Holiday with a dog
Dogs are considered valued members of the family and are therefore often taken along on holiday. The Tyrolean mountains in particular offer impressive natural landscapes and diverse environments for both people and their four-legged companions to explore. At the same time, however, there are some rules that must be observed.
Muzzle compulsory
- On all buses
- In the gondolas of the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen: Ahornbahn, Penkenbahn, Kombibahn Penken, Horbergbahn
Leash obligation
- The municipal regulations must be observed!
- Always keep your dog on a lead when walking. Information boards!
- Dogs must be kept on a lead in the Hintertux Glacier, Eggalm Bahnen, Rastkogel Bahnen and Finkenberger Almbahnen cable cars.
Dog walking bags
Available free of charge at your accommodation and at the tourist office. The obligation to pick up dog faeces applies always and everywhere!
In all public areas (streets, pavements, squares, parks and green spaces, children's playgrounds, sports facilities, bandstands, etc.), on hiking trails and all agricultural areas, it is a legal requirement to pick up dog faeces with a "dog waste bag" and dispose of it in a rubbish bin.
A fine of up to € 2,000.00 can be imposed for non-compliance.
For safety reasons, dogs are not allowed on the ski slopes, on the cross-country ski trail, in the Nature Ice Palace and the Spannagel Cave.
