Natural monument Spannagel Cave

The Spannagel Cave at the Hintertux Glacier is the only marble cave in the Central Alps and a particularly worthwhile destination for families with children. With the measured length of about 12.5 km, the Spannagelhöhle is considered the largest rock cave in the Central Alps, of which about 500 meters can be visited near the entrance during the show cave tour. Learn from the cave guides during a guided tour everything you need to know about the history, age, hydrology watercourses, cave climate and animal life of this special cave and marvel at the marble layering,dripstones, crystals, erosion cauldrons as well as bone finds. Guided tours several times a day (always on the hour):

July 10 to September 15, 2024: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
September 16 to Oktober 14, 2024: 12 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Oktober 15, 2024 to April 30, 2025: 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. (during the winter months mondays closed, opening hours subject to change, please check the actual status )

Experience underground cave passages that are otherwise only accessible to cave guides (surefootedness and good physical condition required)!
